Ride Report

Kentucky was a state of death. By that I mean it will be remembered for a paranormal experience and visiting the sites of 2 dead American heroes.

Otherwise the scenery was very similar to Tennessee - riding back roads, winding through well-kept towns, lots of white fences & grazing horses, an attraction I didn't visit called Kentucky Down Under in Horse Cave, cheaper than usual petrol and quiet roads.

Kentucky started off with investigating a legend. Or is it a legend? Myth? Superstition? Or something else. This is the story of the Meshack Rd ghostly pillion. For the full story search in Google on "Meshack Rd Ghost". In a nutshell, last century the daughter of a farmer on Meshack Rd, near Tompkinsville KY, was killed on the road. Since then stories abound of horse riders and motorcyclists feeling a ghostly presence clinging to their waist as they ride along Meshack Rd. It was time for Twisting Throttle to test this supernatural gobbledegook. On the other hand, after the Tri-State Spook Light experience, nothing is what it seems.

Another shrine on the journey, in Louisville KY, is of course the birthplace of the cheeseburger. This is Kaelins where, 74 years ago, old man Kaelin wanted to tart up the plain old hamburger and thought about putting a slice of cheese on it. But who can visit the city of Louisville without paying respects to the Colonel, buried in Cave Hill Cemetery where you followed the yellow line to his resting place.
