Ride Report

Nevada meant four things. 

Meeting up with my pride and joy daughter Sophie in Las Vegas for a day, riding through Death Valley so I could legitimately get the fridge magnet, attempting to pay for my whole trip by putting $10 into the 1c slot machines at a casino and meeting up with the American Dust Devils in Sparks.

At Badwater, the lowest place in the Western Hemisphere at -282ft below sea level in Death Valley, the temperature was an estimated 40 degrees C and my helmet slid off when I unbuckled it. Not for the first time I abandoned my planned route three-quarters of the way through Death Valley just to get out of it. With just a little bottle of warm water in my top box and sweat dripping down into my eyes it was enough to get the magnet and get back up to at least sea level.

Three states to go.. California, Oregon & Washington. Hope it all holds together for the final 8 days. The rear tyre is wearing more than I would like. Possibly the tyre pressure hasn't been checked as often as it should have. I've used a whole jumbo roll of duct tape to hold together my left riding boot. They'll be on Ebay the moment I get home.
