Ride Report

New Hampshire will be remembered for a little treat I awarded myself, and that was to ride up the Mt Washington Auto Road. Mt Washington is not only NH's highest point but its claim to fame is that it recorded the world's strongest wind gust of 234 mph or 336 km/h. That was in 1934 and I'll bet the weather guy at the top taking the reading needed a change of underwear after that one. Today at the summit the wind was gusting a mere 30 mph or 50 km/h. So there are 50 photos today, 49 of which are of the Mt Washington Auto Road. Its meant to give you a virtual ride up & back. Bear in mind that to bring you these pictures I had to park in precarious positions on the barrier-less edge. The toll was $12. Therefore anyone who views the pictures must contribute to the toll. I have programmed the web site to charge your credit card for 10c for each image below you view.

So that's New Hampshire folks. Enjoy the ride up & down Mt Washington.

Here I'm looking up at the wrong mountain assuming that's where the road goes. I'm actually looking at Mt Adams not Mt Washington.

That's Mt Washington just peeking through the cloud cover. The road climbs up to that summit you can see.

This is the base station that relieves you of $12 ($20 for cars) and gives verbal warnings about the drop-offs, the wind gusts, the gravel stretch etc

This is the start of the road.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

There is a rack & pillion railway to the top as well.

This man's name is Peasley. He hiked to the top.

This man did not hike to the top. He is not as fit as Peasley, although he is 10 years younger.
